Yvonne Li is the founder and CEO of Avantage Ventures. She founded Avantage Ventures to bridge the information and funding gaps between social entrepreneurs and investors in Asia. She is a former Hong Kong finance executive who has worked in investment banking, hedge funds, and commercial banking. Her experience includes working at Lehman Brothers’ capital markets division in equity structured derivatives and Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corporation in commercial banking. She began her career as a macro-economic analyst and options trader at Asia Financial Asset Management.
Yvonne was a leading member of Lehman Brothers’ philanthropy committee, where she successfully engineered the re-development of a rural primary school in China. She has also managed and provided strategic consulting to a number of fundraising projects for China Literacy Foundation and Aids Concern. Yvonne holds a Masters in Finance from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Bachelors in Business & Marketing from Monash University, Melbourne. She has also studied China Business Law, Real Estate Development & Finance and Renewable Energy Finance. Yvonne's interests include travelling, contemporary art, hiking and golf.
She believes that "there are many models of social finance in the developed world that are relevant and can make a big impact in Asia".
Steve Koon is the Social Enterprise Chief Strategist at Avantage Ventures. Steve’s main responsibility is to source social enterprises across Asia in order to identify high-potential investment opportunities. He will work also closely with portfolio enterprises on their business and impact strategy.
In addition to being a social entrepreneurship strategist, Steve also serves as the lead trainer for British Council's Social Innovation program in China. Since 2009, he has trained hundreds of social entrepreneurs and NGO executives across China.
In business, Steve specialises in executive development for multinationals. He has taught over 10,000 managers in business strategy and global management in China. Before coming to China, Steve has spent over a decade working with executives across a number of multinationals including BEA Systems (now owned by Oracle), PA Consulting Group, Honeywell and Merck.
Steve studied social entrepreneurship at the Harvard Kennedy School and is a Mason Fellow. He holds Masters degrees from both Harvard and Columbia University.
Steve says the following: “Traditional philanthropists pride themselves on how many people they have helped. Social entrepreneurs hold themselves accountable for how many people in need they have not helped. The worlds needs more social entrepreneurs.”
Wilson Favre-Delerue is Avantage Ventures' Marketing Director. Wilson’s main responsibility is to identify, market and promote high-potential social enterprises in Asia to key investors and stakeholders. As such, he also oversees investor relations and covers engagements and partnerships with corporations, foundations and multilateral organisations.
Wilson’s experience is in relationship management, sales and marketing in financial services and non-profits. Wilson joins Avantage Ventures from Kofi Annan's Geneva-based Global Humanitarian Forum, where he was Deputy Project Manager of a global advocacy campaign that aggregated more than 15m digital pledges in the run-up to the 2009 Copenhagen climate talks. Prior to that, he was with UBS AG's Asia Pacific wealth management team in Geneva and small- and mid-cap corporate finance unit in Zurich. His first experience in Asia was with the Swiss government, while working in the political and economic sections of the Embassy of Switzerland in China.
Wilson was educated in Europe and the United States. He holds a dual Masters degree in international affairs from Sciences Po Paris and Columbia University New York. Wilson is a committed alumnus, an avid traveller and arts, food and wine lover.

Based in Hong Kong, Megan Pillsbury is Social Investments Manager working at Avantage Ventures. In this role, Megan helps social enterprises to overcome operational and financing challenges and investors to identify opportunities to employ capital for positive social, environmental and economic impact.
Megan has nine years leadership and management experience on three continents, with a focus on technology, innovation, communications and sustainability. Previously she has been a sustainability consultant in Hong Kong, was co-founder and served as Executive Director of the INSEAD Social Innovation Centre in France, and worked six years in high-tech b2b marketing in San Francisco. Megan earned a BS from Ohio State and an MS from University of Michigan in electrical engineering, and an MBA from INSEAD.
Megan says "Investment in social enterprise will stimulate much needed innovation for addressing social and environmental challenges, and certainly these innovations have the potential to deliver massive impact. But more importantly, I think, is that these social entrepreneurs will demonstrate to the world that there need not be a trade-off between social/environmental value and economic value, something that mainstream business and consumers, for all their savvy, have been slow to learn."
James Li is the Social Enterprise Consultant at Avantage Ventures. James’ main objective is to provide consulting and incubation services to social enterprises across the Asia-Pacific region and to conduct research and analysis into their operations, markets, products, services, logistics, financials and governance. James assists social enterprises with the crafting of their business plans and their strategy.
James previously worked in the commercial department of Tricorona, a leading carbon trading company in Beijing. James was a project manager for CDM and voluntary carbon credits projects, he also oversaw deal origination and execution of the carbon credit projects throughout China.
James holds a Bachelors degree in environmental science and a Masters degree in environmental science and ecology from Hunan Agriculture University.
James believes that “social enterprise isn’t only good for companies themselves, it also contributes positively to a more harmonious society.”
Jamie Laursen is a Field Consultant at Avantage Ventures. Her strong analytical background supports her work researching various social enterprises and their models in Asia. Jamie is currently seconded to a portfolio enterprise and has been supporting the company with all aspects of business strategy and financial modelling, along with consulting on a new trade finance facility.
Jamie previously worked in sales and marketing in New York for AstraZeneca, a leading multinational pharmaceutical company. She has a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and recently completed a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Jamie spent a semester during her MBA at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology focused on International Business and also participated in a short-term exchange program with Tsinghua University in Beijing.
She is currently learning Mandarin Chinese at the Beijing Language & Culture University. She is an accomplished tri-athlete, scuba diver, and pianist and has a strong interest in Chinese culture.

Chloe Ho is an intern at Avantage Ventures. Her responsibilities include, among others, profiling social investors and managing the Social Venture Catalogue.
Chloe is a current undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is pursuing dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business under the Wharton School, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) under the College of Arts and Sciences. At Penn, she serves at the forefront of the social impact movement on the academic and extra-curricular levels, organizing campus events and university conferences to promote the field of social entrepreneurship.
