On June 23, the Global Institute for Tomorrow (GIFT), a Hong Kong think tank, and private investor, Annie Chen, co-hosted an investor forum focused on investing in social ventures. A first of its kind in Asia, the forum discussed opportunities in social investing to an oversubscribed crowd of 60 participants, which included family investors, private banks, foundations, and private equity firms.

Avantage Ventures launches the group website on June 8, 2009. The online platform promotes ready-to-invest in ventures  that benefit local communities in Asia in ways that go beyond philanthropy and charity. It offers current information on Avantage Ventures activities but also offers a tool for  investors to access social enterprise profiles and for social enterprises to learn more about best business practice and opportunities.

Mar 19, 2009: Jolie Lam is a panel judge for the "Skills for Social Entrepreneurs" training competition joinly organised by the British Council and YouCheng (China Social Entrepreneur Foundation) in Beijing. The trainees include both experienced NGO practitioners and new starters with creative ideas. They are working in diverse areas such as poverty-relief, care for the old people, employment, education, environmental protection, the disabled and rural development.
